January 18, 2023 – Miracle beach & trail walk
For my final project I went into the shots I had taken on the same walk from TECH EX 02. With all the weather we have been having I haven’t been able to get out and get as many shots as I would like and I was really happy with how this set had turned out. After spending quite a bit of time looking through and editing, I really liked all the different artistic components I was able to get on the outing. I can’t wait to get out there again with some different lighting and see what else I can get.
I set up more than one gallery, since I ended up with a mix of B&W and colour shots. There was more than one that I struggled on which way I should go with it, but ultimately I’m quite happy with how they all turned out. I did end up adding a movement shot, which was a bit of a pull to the drawing class I was just in and capturing movement. Excited to play with this feature some more this summer as well as I have some fun ideas I’m looking forward to trying.
I also went with more than one value shot, since I feel it shows 2 different styles. One being high contrast and one being lower contrast and having a much broader spectrum and varied colours.
Since these were taken I have begun to play with more settings and taking the time to test out more of them. These were almost all taken at one shutter speed and one ISO setting, but played more with f/stop and focal points.
As for editing. I did a basic edit and then worked on applying that edit to as many of the shots as possible for a base edit. Then I made adjustments as needed for each of the photos. I really like how with just a little bit of adjusting you can change the whole mood of the photograph. On the B&W shots I tried out adding a preset on top of my edits and the three I chose I think looked better in the black and white. I’m really happy with how this project turned out and looking forward to playing with all of these more in the coming units.
All pictures were taken in Manual mode and making my own adjustments depending on the light and settings around me.
