Hi! I’m Tiffany Skogan. I’m a DGL student at NIC on Vancouver Island. I currently reside in Campbell River, BC with my 2 kids.

I was born in Ottawa, ONT and was moved out to BC when I just 3. I have spent most of my time between the Lower Mainland, the Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Island.

I am a single mama of 2 beautiful kids. A son aged 10 and daughter aged 7. My son has ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and as such I have had to work from home for the last few years due to extra care needs. That is what ended up leading me to the DGL programs at NIC around the time of my 40th birthday last year. Finding a career path that I have a passion for and find personal growth in while being able to be available for my family has been a wonderful discovery.

I am currently in general studies but hoping to get accepted into the Advanced Web Design Diploma Program. A couple of years ago I was tasked with creating a website for another venture I was working on. It lit a passion for me in the digital space, although at the time I had no idea where to start or what it would lead to. I was very excited to come across this program last Sept. I am hoping to work with website creation when I graduate with some photography on the side. I love troubleshooting through building the back end to have everything click together into a beautiful front-end webpage. I love a love of creation and design and this space brings so many of those pieces together.

This semester I am taking Digital Culture, HTML & CSS and Digital Photography. So far, I am loving the challenge and diversity in these courses and can’t wait for the rest of the semester.

In my downtime you can find me with my nose in a book, at the skydive centre in Campbell River or chasing after my kids. Aside from working during the summer at the local skydive centre watching people fall from the sky, during the pandemic I also opened a small book accessories shop on the Etsy platform and have enjoyed having that as a side business and creative outlet to go along with my love of books.
