For this project, we worked with stop-motion. This technique takes an amazing amount of patience.

This piece was frustrating at times but ultimately had a really satisfying completion. I actually filmed this in reverse and edited the footage after filming. There are mistakes that I didn’t take into account until afterwards and at one point had to delete 70 images due to a big mistake. I didn’t realize how hard filming in reverse would be, although it did make for a cool effect of the car essentially building itself.

The other hard part was accidentally knocking pieces or the surface that it was being recorded on, causing small discrepancies with the final result. While my kids make stop motions all the time, I hadn’t actually taken the time to make one myself. I think it’s a fun result for my first official, full-length video.

Enjoy!
