Principles

In this section I have performed an accessibility audit for the https://learndigital.dev/programs/ webpage. My findings during this audit are noted below.

Perceivable – This is the area where most of the minor issues have been from my view. There are some color contrasting issues. When a screen is in dark mode some of the buttons on the mainpage have a lower contrast and were a bit harder to see.

I tested this page in different mobile options and there were some minor issues with the first carousel. Some of the images are getting cut off when on different screen sizes or when the page is resized for people with vision impairments. At the bottom of the page there are multiple pictures that all go to the same URL, so when running an accessibility scan it does pull errors for this. Also, in that same area there is a block of text that covers a good portion of the pictures.

I also had a hard time find alt text for lots of the images. However, there were some descriptions underneath the image.

Some of the images are a bit large, so when I did some speed testing it did affect the performance ranking for the mobile.

In the section ‘Your program options’ it feels like the different boxes should be direct links to those programs, but they aren’t. The only button available is at the bottom of that section.

Operable – From what I could find this site the operability is quite good. I wasn’t able to really test it from only using a keyboard but it worked well from both a laptop and a touch screen. Everything is clearly laid out and getting to and from each page was very smooth. I didn’t have any lagging from my laptop or mobile, however as mentioned above when a test was done there could potentially be lagging issues from mobile devices due to the size of some images.

Understandable – I found the webpage very easy to understand and follow along with. I didn’t find there were any timed functions that moved too fast. You have time to see and read everything that you need to.

Robust – I was able to view it from different browsers and devices. I wasn’t able to check it through assistive technology, since I don’t have or use any. I did run some visual tests to check on vision limitations. I noted what I found with those tests in the first section.

All in all I think it’s a very well put together website that’s functional, pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. I give it a 4/5 as there were just some minor issues with perceivability. The https://learndigital.dev/ website looks great.
