These studies were the absolute hardest for me. I find abstract practice incredibly difficult, since I’m so drawn to photorealism. We also did this section during a stressful time and I had a really hard time letting my mind go and flowing with the process. It was an excellent exercise and study to work on.
The hardest one ended up being the one I like the most. We were asked to paint using a tool that was a long stick with twine tied to the end. We were to dip the end of it in a pot of ink and paint the gesture. The more I look at the piece the more I enjoy it, but at the time it felt like the hardest thing to do.
